    Shand Taylor Lawyers specialises in retail, commercial and industrial leasing transactions. We act for a number of prominent owners of shopping centres, industrial complexes and commercial office buildings as well as tenants from a variety of backgrounds ranging from small businesses to national chain stores.

    Our Expertise

    At Shand Taylor Lawyers, our property and commercial team have extensive expertise in:

    • drafting, negotiating and finalising agreements for lease, leases, fit out and incentive deeds, guarantees and disclosure statements on behalf of landlords including the follow up of ancillary requirements such as bank guarantees and arranging registration of leases
    • reviewing and negotiating leases and associated documents on behalf of tenants as well as explaining the tenant's obligations under the lease
    • compliance with the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994 (Qld) including meeting legislative timeframes, drafting compliant documents and preparation and review of disclosure statements
    • assisting in the leasing of specialty sites such as service stations, liquor establishments, airports and telecommunication sites
    • licensing of premises, common area trading and car spaces
    • assignment, surrender, subletting and franchising of leases
    • issuing and enforcement of notices to remedy breach of lease covenants; and action to recover arrears and damages from defaulting tenants
