Shand Taylor Lawyers has extensive experience in retail, commercial and industrial leasing transactions. We act for a number of prominent owners of shopping centres, industrial complexes and commercial office buildings as well as tenants from a variety of backgrounds ranging from small businesses, international companies to national chain stores.

Our Expertise

Our team regularly assists clients with the following:

  • drafting, negotiating and finalising agreements for lease, leases, fit out and incentive deeds, guarantees and statutory disclosure statements on behalf of landlords, including the follow up of ancillary requirements such as bank guarantees and arranging registration of leases
  • reviewing and negotiating leases and associated documents on behalf of tenants
  • complying with the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994 (Qld), including meeting legislative timeframes, drafting compliant documents and preparing and reviewing statutory disclosure statements
  • leasing of specialty sites such as service stations, licensed establishments, airports and telecommunication sites
  • licensing of premises, common area trading and car spaces
  • assignment, surrender, subletting of leases
  • reviewing and negotiating leases for franchisees
  • issuing and enforcement of notices to remedy breach of lease covenants
  • recovering arrears and damages from defaulting tenants
