Following the amendment of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in 2001, all health service providers and most private sector organisations have been required to comply with ten National Privacy Principles ("NPPs").
The NPPs regulate the way in which an organisation may collect, use, store, disclose and allow access to the information it holds about people. To comply with the legislation organisations are typically required to have a well drafted privacy policy, well developed systems for the handling of personal information, and well trained staff. Failure to comply with the legislation can lead to litigation and or public relations disasters.
Ben Warren has assisted many clients with a large variety of privacy issues. He is able to provide practical, easy-to-implement and timely advice both at the compliance stage or once a complaint has been made.
