John Shand  Special Counsel

John is a highly regarded property, commercial and corporate lawyer. Admitted as a solicitor in 1973 after obtaining a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland, John has practised in the areas of property, conveyancing, litigation, financial transactions, partnership matters, corporate law, revenue law, trusts and general contractual issues.

For the last 25 years John has specialised in land tenure particularly property sales and acquisitions, easements, licences, mortgages and their associated revenue implications. His experience in land tenure extends to freehold and leasehold land held under various State Acts. He has also had a focus upon leases of commercial property.

John has experience in numerous joint ventures, acting for the financier or the developer which utilizes his experience and skills in negotiation, drafting, planning and finalizing the transaction.

John also specialises in corporate restructures and in particular structures for professional entities (eg. doctors, dentists) which includes consideration of stamp duty and taxation implications.
