John Sneddon

John Sneddon is a partner in our dispute resolution team where he focusses on the resolution of company disputes, commercial litigation, employment law, defamation, and sports law.

Corporate Experience

John is an experienced company director and served on the board of Crèche & Kindergarten Association Limited, one of Australia's largest early childhood education providers, for over a decade. He has provided legal advice to the Board of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and indigenous councils in the Northern Territory and North Queensland. 

Human Rights

John has extensive experience representing Australians who have been arrested or imprisoned overseas.  In 2014, he was awarded the Queensland Law Society's President's Medal and the Australian Lawyers' Alliance Queensland Civil Justice Award for his representation of Marcus Lee, an Australian citizen charged with (and acquitted of) fraud-related offences in Dubai.  A copy of John's speech when accepting the medal is here.  He was also a member of the legal team which acted for Peter Greste, an Australian journalist imprisoned in Egypt.  John also provided legal representation to Australian filmmaker James Ricketson during his imprisonment in Cambodia and has assisted Australians to navigate the criminal justice system in Kenya, Qatar, and Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.
