PROPERTY & DEVELOPMENT
Our Practice

At Shand Taylor Lawyers we are proud of our reputation in the field of property and development.  We have extensive experience and practical knowledge of the property industry.  Our team has fostered strong relationships within the industry which has resulted in our firm acting in some of Queensland’s preeminent property transactions and master-planned communities.

Our team is very experienced in property and development law and recognises that it is essential for issues to be identified at an early stage to avoid delays.  We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, a commercially minded approach to negotiations, and a strong emphasis on client outcomes.  Our team also recognises the importance of the early preparation of the required documents to assist your project is completed on time on which, of course, your cash flow depends.

We provide quality advice and commercial outcomes for a broad range of clients in the property and development sector.  Our clients include the State Government, a range of Queensland, national and international property developers, commercial property (including shopping centre) owners, and other members of the development and property sectors in industries such as health, transport, aviation, agricultural, manufacturing, and construction.

We are committed to ensuring every transaction, no matter how big or small is treated with due care and consideration to achieve the best result for our clients.

Our firm has extensive experience with e-conveyancing having acted for a developer in what was, at the time, the largest residential development in Queensland to be settled via the PEXA (Property Exchange Australia) projects system.  Our firm also has experience with electronic execution of contracts and can therefore assist with the contracting and settlement of residential subdivisions entirely electronically.

Our firm is particularly experienced in residential subdivisions and bulk conveyancing.  We have established ourselves as a forward-thinking and technologically intuitive law firm that utilizes PEXA infrastructure to simplify the settlement process.  Our team has developed strong relationships with our developer clients to ensure best practice for bulk conveyancing matters.

Our experience in plan registration will be of great benefit to any developer as this is an area where difficulties may arise.  In the plan registration process, it is essential for issues relating to the specific plan and beyond to be recognised at an early stage in order to avoid delays in registration and settlement which will negatively impact cash flow. Our firm also uses the electronic lodgement system with the Queensland Titles Registry which is an effective and time efficient system for lodging Queensland Titles forms.

We understand from experience how vitally important it is for each sale to be settled on time without fuss or delay. This requires not only legal skills but also organisation and attention to detail on each sale to ensure the buyer's solicitors are doing everything on time. Not every sale goes to completion and in certain cases, buyers may default under a contract or attempt to avoid their legal obligations. If that occasion does arise, we know how to deal with the problem and to protect the developer's interests so their rights against such a buyer are not compromised.

Because of our experience in property and development matters we are able to offer a service that will not be surpassed. Further, we pride ourselves on the manner and speed in which we deliver our services to you.

Our firm is a member of the Property Council of Australia, the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Qld Division), and Strata Community Australia.
